Tomas Berdych has been in remarkable form this past few days. Winning every single match in straight sets is no easy task, especially when some of your opponents include Andy Murray, John Isner, and Mikhail Youzhny. If his flawless tournament continues against Robin Soderling, you wouldn’t doubt him to take home the championship, even against the like of Rafael Nadal. Majors can be strange competitions, as we have already seen, so I wouldn’t write off Berdych’s chances just yet.

Australia’s Sam Stosur has had arguably the toughest run to the semi-finals out of all four women. Three of her five matches have gone to the maximum three sets, but perhaps most incredible is the fact that she defeated former world number one and four-time French Open winner Justine Henin in Round Four, before following it up with victory over current world number one Serena Williams. Stosur has only reached a Grand Slam semi-final once before, at the 2009 French Open, but the seventh seed is surprisingly favourite to progress to the final over her fourth seed opponent.
Jelena Jankovich has been here twice before, and both times she has failed to reach the final. After what could be described as an easy run to the semis – in comparison to other competitors – Jankovich will have the benefit of only playing one match to three sets. Fitness could play a factor this deep into the tournament, and the experience of the Serb is undoubtable. However, the bookies have her tipped as an outside chance to win, so it’s a very tough call.
