The French Open has seen an incredible number of upsets so far, and with only four players left in both the Men’s and Women’s tournaments, the next few days will be all about Roland Garros. Bodog has all the odds.
Bodog has odds on all four matches, including standard Money Line bets and Outrights on who will claim the French Open championship in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions. Let’s preview two of the best semi-final matchups, and be sure to check back at Bodog for all the weekend finals action.
Robin Soderling: 4/9
Tomas Berdych: 7/4
The biggest upset of the tournament so far – comparable to Serena Williams’ defeat to Sam Stosur – belongs to Robin Soderling. The man known as being the only player to ever beat Rafael Nadal at the French Open just one-upped himself with a quarterfinal victory over Roger Federer. The win ended Federer’s six-year run of reaching at least the semi-finals at every single Major. And while Soderling has yet to win a championship, his appearance at the French Open final last year should have Rafael Nadal shaking in his boots should the two meet this weekend.
Tomas Berdych has been in remarkable form this past few days. Winning every single match in straight sets is no easy task, especially when some of your opponents include Andy Murray, John Isner, and Mikhail Youzhny. If his flawless tournament continues against Robin Soderling, you wouldn’t doubt him to take home the championship, even against the like of Rafael Nadal. Majors can be strange competitions, as we have already seen, so I wouldn’t write off Berdych’s chances just yet.
Samantha Stosur: 8/13
Jelena Jankovic: 5/4
Australia’s Sam Stosur has had arguably the toughest run to the semi-finals out of all four women. Three of her five matches have gone to the maximum three sets, but perhaps most incredible is the fact that she defeated former world number one and four-time French Open winner Justine Henin in Round Four, before following it up with victory over current world number one Serena Williams. Stosur has only reached a Grand Slam semi-final once before, at the 2009 French Open, but the seventh seed is surprisingly favourite to progress to the final over her fourth seed opponent.
Jelena Jankovich has been here twice before, and both times she has failed to reach the final. After what could be described as an easy run to the semis – in comparison to other competitors – Jankovich will have the benefit of only playing one match to three sets. Fitness could play a factor this deep into the tournament, and the experience of the Serb is undoubtable. However, the bookies have her tipped as an outside chance to win, so it’s a very tough call.
Jurgen Melzer: 11/1
Rafael Nadal: 1/33
Francesca Schiavone: 10/11
Elena Dementieva: 10/11
